After many years of troubles in Northern Ireland both sides agree to the Good Friday peace agreement. The US President Bill Clinton denies he had "sexual relations" with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky, but later admits it. The Soviet Union Banking system suffers a meltdown when the Rouble lost 70% of its value against US dollar in 6 months with several of the largest Russians banks collapsing. Europeans agree on a single currency the Euro, Google is founded, BMW buys Rolls-Royce cars for $570 million and the world's first digital terrestial television service is launched in the UK. Popular films of this year included Titanic, Saving Private Ryan and There's Something About Mary.
The first UYOA pilot event was held at
Tilgate Forest Park Golf Club in Sussex.
Set within the magnificent wooded countryside of the High Weald of Sussex adjoining Tilgate Forest Park, this outstanding location offers unparalleled views. The park covers some 400 acres and was once part of the Tilgate Estate, which covered much of the surrounding area. Famous for its tree-lined fairways, tight doglegs and well-guarded greens, the Par 72 course is both challenging and rewarding for all golfers.
The video above is now how Tilgate
looks, as I recall back in 1998 (and details and memories are
scarce), the club house was some beaten up old timber building
and we finished the day in the dark too. I believe Dan Green won
this event but little other memories are forth coming.
